Setting LAN Adapter Card

Setting LAN Adapter Card for computer networking in Windows 7 is slightly different from what you usually do in Windows XP, because the location of various devices in the Control Panel menu, which is different from your previous OS (Win XP, 2000). In Windows 7 you don’t need to be confused to make IP Address settings, Printer and File Sharing, and Disable/Enable Password Protection Sharing, Change Workgroup name, as well as various other settings. With this network computer tutorial I will help you do that, no matter if your computer network is Peer to Peer or Workstation, all can be done easily. To cleared tutorial I include some screenshot that support.

IP Address Settings

1. Go to Windows Explorer -> Network -> click Network and Sharing Center on top menu bar

2. Change/Configuration IP Address : click “Change adapter settings

-> Right click on Local Area Connection -> Properties -> Select Internet Protocol Vesion 4 (TCP/IPv4) -> Properties -> Set your Computer IP Address and Subnet mask, other columns left blank. For example I use Class C, see picture below :

If finish click OK. You can also configure “Internet Connection Sharing” in Sharing tab.
Disable/Enable Password Protection Sharing
When opening a network folder in”Network Place” you will be asked username and password of other computers which connected to the network. You can disable that, each computer can be accessed directly at the “network place” without the authentication password and username.
OK, See step above. Back to Windows Explorer -> Network -> Change Advance Sharing Settings

-> Scroll down then select Turn off Password Protection Sharing -> click Save Changes.
How to Change Workgroup name
Go to Windows Explorer -> right click on My Computer -> Properties -> click Advance system settings (on left menu bar)

-> Computer Name tab -> click Change… button -> you can set new Computer name and Workgroup.
